I have studied many different types of massage and would love to create a massage that serves your needs.  My favorite types of massage are deep tissue, sports, prenatal, cupping and CBD, but am more than capable of working with other styles. I take great pride in having studied with some of the masters and originators of some of the styles I have studied.

To better understand the different massage modalities:

CBD Upgrade -  Using an oil infused with canabanoid or CBD oil without THC so it won't get you high, a CBD massage provides relaxation, pain relief, reduces inflammation and encourages the ability to sleep better. Working with the central nervous system, CBD oil provides additional canabinoids to the ones the body already produces naturally. Although more research needs to be done, many of my clients have stated that they feel instant relief which multiplies the benefits of my usual massage. As an upgrade, this modality can be combined with many other types of massage, although not prenatal. Some common contraindications include cancer, pregnancy and diabetes and requires a note from the doctor to be used for clients having these conditions.

Chair Massage - Intended to increase circulation in order to allow the body to heal itself. Client sits in a specially designed massage chair that opens up the back muscles, relieves strain on the neck and provides gentle relief for the eyes. It provides balance in the body by preventing smaller issues from escalating. An average of 15 minutes on the neck, back, arms and hands can increase circulation, improve energy levels, and protect from injury. Many clients like this modality as an introduction to massage as the client is fully dressed, can be done in a public location, and no lubricants are used, Studies have also shown that chair massage at work can increase employee productivity. Besides for being a great way to show client or staff appreciation, chair massage also works perfectly at trade expos where you can talk about your products while potential clients are relaxing and better able to concentrate. Minimum of two hour booking for onsite massage only. .

Cupping Upgrade - Using the power of specially made  silicone suction cups, this allows the therapist to go approximately four inches deeper into the fascia of the client without feeling as deep as a deep tissue massage. Used by a lot of athletes, this modality helps break up scars and adhesions, both old and new, in the fascia to allow for better blood circulation. This is an ancient form of alternative medicine dating all the way back to caveman days as there have been pictures found on cave walls of the ancient use of this modality. While some cups are kept in place for a few  minutes to break up adhesions, others may be moved in order to do the actual massage. One of the most common side effects people note in this type of massage involves red spots on the body due to bringing stagnate blood to the surface of the skin and can last from a few hours to a few weeks after the treatment. It is important to drink plenty of water and avoid extreme temperatures after a cupping massage to reduce the amount of time the skin may remain red.

Deep Tissue Massage - Used to reach the connective tissue (or deeper layer of the muscle), deep tissue uses more pressure, slower strokes, and more concentrated effort on specific areas of the body in comparison to Swedish massage. Pressure is applied through the use of hands, knuckles, fingers, elbows, and forearms in a slow and deliberate movement. The slow movement and warmth created from the pressure allows the therapist to reach the deeper muscles below the fascia. Since the work is unhurried and concentrated, it may not address the whole body as a relaxation massage would. It is also not uncommon for the client to feel sore after the massage and even the next day, although water and hot Epson salt baths should reduce this discomfort.

Fusion Massage / Therapeutic Massage- The integration of aspects of different modalities through the use of TouchAbilities to provide a more well rounded massage. Fusion allows for a more customized massage for the client depending on what their issues include. TouchAbilities is a method of viewing massage as developed by Iris Burman and Sandy Friedland which involves the use of gliding, breathing, cognitive, energetic, compression, expansion, kinetic, and oscillation massage movements.

Prenatal Massage - A side-lying Swedish massage or other relaxation massage done to a pregnant woman to increase circulation and reduce stress on weight-bearing joints in order to improve the outcome of delivery and labor and provide the new mother with a reduction of of stress of mothering. Massage is often not recommended during the first trimester but can be done with a doctor's permission. This type of massage is very important to keep both mother and child in good health during this crucial time. I often recommend prenatal massage be done every 2-4 weeks during the second trimester, every two weeks in months 7 and 8, and one a wee in the last month in order to better prepare for labor and delivery.

Sports/ Stretching Massage - A deep tissue massage to warm up the muscles followed by a concentration on stretching to increase flexibility and range of motion through proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and other forms of stretching in order to relieve muscle pain from overuse, exercise, and chronic pain.

Swedish/ Relaxation Massage - Currently, the most common and well-known massage modality, Swedish massage denotes a relaxing, usually non-specific, full body treatment using the traditional techniques of effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, and joint movements. Movements are done in a centripetal (towards the heart) direction. This is a relaxing experience as the practitioner applies long, gliding strokes, squeezes and presses muscles, and moves nearly every part of the client's body. Most of the techniques have either direct, mechanical effects on the soft tissue to which they are applied, or more systemic, reflexive effects which influence the autonomic nervous system.
